I'm still in high school and I'm trying to find out as much information as I can on different career choices.

I recently realized that I would really like to teach English in another country but I wasn't sure which one. I love studying other languages and I love travelling.

At first I thought that I would like to become an English teacher in my own country. I decided against it. I wanted to travel. Then my friend suggested teaching English in another country as a second language. I absolutely loved the idea.

Like I said, I'm still in high school and my mind is going to change about one thousand times, but I still want to get my information straight.

I decided on Germany. I have plenty of time to learn German and I'm just drawn to the country for some reason.

But I have some questions. Like, what would I need to do in order to be qualified to work there? Colleges are still a major confusion in my life, sadly, but I make decent grades (I'd probably make straight A's if it weren't for Geometry) and I'm a pretty determined individual.

Would my local tech school offer courses to help me? I guess I'm going to go to tech and then transfer after two years to another college, so would I have to wait until I'm out of tech school to become qualified?

I'm really confused, so any clarification would help.

I've PMd you with some information. I used to teach there myself if you need more.

Germany is a professional place and you need to be good to get a job there; qualified with a degree in an English related subject and at least a TEFL certificate.

But you're starting out at the right time; my advice would be to go to Uni and take something like English or linguistics or something related and then take a simple TEFL cert then do a year or so and then (assuming you're enjoying yourself and aren't tempted to run out of the school screaming each time a class begins) take a higher certificate like CELTA and then teach a few more years and then make millions of pounds writing a text book.

It's that easy! Shocked

Well ,

I would say, you will be able to work in a private language school , but not in a local school. First, you need to make your diplomas recognised by the Ministry of Education, and then...

but , you can easily find a job in a language school (they pay between 15 and 25 E /class)
