|
|
Hi everyone, I'm hoping to get some serious advice urgently........
do you know of any GOOD SCHOOLS in LONDON for CELTA?
My plan is to obtain the qualification this summer in London. I've tried to ask around, and got the impression that International House is the best place to do it, but also the most costly.
I'm looking for intensive courses (1 - 2 months).
My budget is extremely tight, so I would really appreciate a school with abundant resources (ie. library), so that I don't have to spend a lot on buying extra reference materials. I'm also looking for responsible and experienced tutors.
Currently studying for an undergraduate degree, I'm planning to return to Hong Kong and teach, upon completion.
Feeling a bit stranded as I don't know any friends who are in the profession...
PLEASE help! Many thanks! |

Hello,
To find a choice of British Council accredited schools go to http://www.englishuk.com/ and click on Course Search. Choose Teachers' Courses and London from the menu and you will get a list. You can then compare prices and dates of the available courses. Good luck! _________________ Brenda Townsend Hall, Ph.D.

Unlike TESL, CELTA (given by the University of Cambridge) has a specific syllabus. No matter where you do your CELTA certificate, it will be EXACTLY THE SAME.
Don 't let anyone tell you any different. |

International House is an excellent choice but not the only good place. However, they've been doing it a very long time, their trainers are excellent and they have a very good set up. Ask lots of questions, ask for a tour around and then make your own decision. Ultimately, if you choose somewhere you feel comfortable, you should have the best 4 weeks' tuition of your life. Enjoy

I agree with Tropical. Make your own choice as each school has a slightly different ethos and atmosphere. Another school I could suggest is Oxford House College, I completed a CELTA course there last year and found the whole experience a very pleasant one. They have a huge library to plan lessons in, which really goes a long way in central London! There was also just a happy vibe in the college and if I remember rightly it was good value for money too - about £100-£200 cheaper than most other places. (http://www.oxfordhousecollege.co.uk/courses/CELTA if interested)
Anyway best of luck! |
