Ciao Amici or Hello Friends ~

I am getting ready to enroll in my first ESL certification course. My goal is to work in Italy -- pronto.

Locally, I can attend Global TESOL College for a 1 week course at $900 USD and receive a TESOL certificate (with job placement assistance) or I can pay $1700 to $2000 and get a CELTA in Florence, Italy through Eurotefl.

What would you do?

Hello Anna

As you want to teach in Italy, 'kill two birds with one stone' and do your CELTA course there.

You will be teaching the natives from the start, which will be good practise for you, when you have your own class.

Make sure you can get work before you go. See below.

Non-EU passport holders may find it difficult to obtain a work permit.

Frankly I don't think a one-week course will carry much weight. On the other hand, CELTA is widely known in Europe so will probably give you a better chance of finding work.
