I graduated from an English speaking school, went to University in the UK, did my master's there as well. Then I've got CELTA and two other languages. One being my mother tongue.. German-ish. Well, I have a German passport.

That's kind of how I sold myself to those asking for specific nationalities. They didn't mind, but when it came to getting a visa, I was told that I wasn't getting a working visa to teach English as a non-native. The school actually wanted to employ me but it looked like both of us were devastated..

It also looks like it's the case for most places Sad

That's a shame, sorry to hear that.

I've worked with English Teachers from Germany in S. E. Asia. What countries were you applying for work? I don't think you'll have any problems with your skills/qualifications/experience teaching in S. E. Asia.
